Parentage: Rosa glauca (formerly Rosa rubrifolia) × Rosa rugosa

Carmenetta is a seedling cross between the Red Leafed Rose (Rosa glauca) and Rosa rugosa. The red pigments that run through this rose also color its bark, giving the new growth a deep red hue. This plant grows to an immense size with stems that become tree like. It will need a large space if allowed to grow to maturity, but can be contained through pruning. Carmenetta doesn’t last as long as we would hope, but the experience each season is worth it.
