Picea glauca albertiana ‘Conica’
Very popular dense conical tree with very fine needles that give it a soft look. Never needs pruning, although rarely this juvenile form will send out a normal shoot of spruce, which should be pruned out. Placement out of the western sun will help prevent sunburn, although if this occurs it will recover rapidly in spring. Original plant was found in Laggan, Alberta by Alfred Rehder and J.G. Jack, two botanists from the Arnold Arboretum, while waiting for a train. Now grown throughout the temperate world.
