Monarda didyma. Beebalm

These are moisture loving members of the mint family. They will grow in garden soil as long as there is moisture available. The bright coloured flowers arrive in late summer/early fall. The foliage is fragrant and used in teas. Like all mints they are deer proof. Mildew has been a problem with this species, however if plenty of water is available, mildew will be absent. These are some of the more resistant cultivars.
