Zone 3 - 4m / 13ft height - 2m / 6.5ft spread

A vigorous shrub with large compound leaves. The ivory flowers are arranged in flat umbels that can be dipped in batter and fried. The clusters of purple-black fruit are used in jams, syrups, wine, baking and, increasingly, in nutraceuticals, as they have high levels of vitamins and anti-oxidants. Elderberries need pollination from a different variety to set fruit. Flowers in early summer, so is never caught by frost. Reliably productive. Prefers a moist well drained soil. Will grow in partial shade but will have decreased flower production.
