Join Bob for a Walk through Our Acadian Forest
On August 2nd from 10 AM to 12 PM, come explore a unique piece of the Acadian Forest System with Bob. This forest type is considered critically endangered by the World Wildlife Fund, making it even more special to experience up close.
The Acadian Forest has been evolving for over 10,000 years, starting with the retreat of the glaciers. Over time, the forest transformed from tundra-like conditions to the mixed forest we see today, as warmer temperatures allowed southern tree species to establish roots in the region. This rich blend of species, including red spruce, yellow birch, sugar maple, balsam fir, and eastern hemlock, is found nowhere else in the world. It’s one of the rarest forest types in North America!
During our walk, we’ll explore the plants and trees that make up this incredible ecosystem and talk about how the Acadian Forest is changing. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the conservation efforts to protect this ancient forest.
