Mann began as a chance seedling in New York state. It is oblate in form, medium in size, and the deepest forest green that morphs into a dull honey yellow at maturity. Russet patches are sometimes seen emanating from the stem cavity. The flesh is yellow, crisp, and juicy. Mann is one of the last apples to be picked and keeps all winter in common storage. We have been growing this apple for more than 45 years, and it has stood up to everything Winter has thrown at it. Beyond hardiness, its resistance to disease and insects is what makes it stand out. Mann is somewhat biennial so large crops alternate with smaller crops.
