A famous old English bittersharp apple with some tannins that make an excellent varietal cider. Kingston Black is not actually black, but named so due to its deep red coloration. The tree is strongly biennial and only a fair producer. Once popular, these days it is less so as it is susceptible to apple scab and canker.
