Corn Hill Nursery Liberty Apple

Liberty Apple

$39.00

Zone 4 (possibly 3) - New York. 1978 - Dwarf & Semi-Dwarf rootstock options

Dessert, cooking, cider
Late season

Parentage: Macoun × PRI 54-12
Liberty is resistant to a host of diseases, including apple scab, cedar apple rust, and fireblight. The fruit is medium to large in size and round to conic in shape. The yellow-green background becomes a rich red where the sun hits it and its flesh is crisp and crackling, white with some pink veining. Picking at the right time, (early to mid-October in New Brunswick) will result in a flavourful apple that stores well. Too early and it will lack flavour, too late and it won’t be crisp. If pickers never come, the fruit can hang on the tree well into the winter months. If used in sweet cider, Liberty adds a sweetness and a consistency resembling syrup. Also an excellent pick as a bulk juice for hard cider providing great body and flavour. Finest cultivar for organic production.
