Cornus sericea
Red osier dogwood is a native deciduous multi-stem shrub usually found in cool, moist sites, often seen along ditches in rural New Brunswick. A plant with great winter interest due to its bright red stems. Great for erosion control along streams or on banks as it forms a network of soil holding roots. Cutting back plants will create bright red new growth and prompt pruning of root suckers will help maintain a contained plant and avoid its naturally spreading growth habit should it not be desired. Ideally grown in full sun or part shade and evenly moist soils, but tolerant of many conditions.
