Creeping Dogwood. Bunchberry. Cornus canadensis.

A native plant found growing under conifers such as balsam fir and spruce. Prefers an acidic, moist, well drained soil and shady conditions. Does not grow more than 15cm (6in) high. Four petaled white flowers form bright red berries that are edible, however eating them is a bit like chewing on small pieces of tasteless Styrofoam. Spreads by rhizomes. In the right spot it makes a spectacular ground cover.
