Native to cooler sections of southern France, but will survive into Zone 4. Elijah Blue is perhaps the best cultivar of this species, as it is more long lasting and has superb colour. The plant forms small clumps of fine leaves with thin flowering stems that are often pruned off for appearance. Plant in well drained loam soil for good overwintering. Prune back in early spring to maintain a tight form.
