Matteuccia struthiopteris

Our most famous native fern. Best known for its edible young croziers (fiddleheads). Tall and stately fronds. Prefers partial shade and moist organic soils, although we have successfully grown them in a relatively sunny spot in very well drained soil and they still do well, though not as tall and lush.
