The Yellow Bellflower apple is a historic American apple variety that was discovered in New Jersey. It quickly became a favourite among apple enthusiasts. It has a unique, tart-sweet flavour profile that's perfect for eating fresh or baking. The fruit is large and has lemon yellow skin with a hint of red and often russet around the stem. It is juicy, aromatic, and sharp-sweet. The tree is a vigorous grower. Harvest time for the Yellow Bellflower apple is typically in late September or early October. Newly picked apples are best used for baking, especially in pies, due to its firm fine grained texture and tartness. After two months of so in storage the sweetness gains the upper hand. It also makes a great addition to salads or can be eaten fresh. It is susceptible to canker, mildew, fire blight, and scab.
