Empire is one of many apples bred using McIntosh as the mother. The fruit is medium in size, round to oblate-conic, and is often irregularly shaped. The skin develops a deep, glossy purplish red over nearly the entire surface when sun drenched. The best part lies inside despite its attractive exterior. The flesh is creamy white, crisp, and juicy. The tree is a grower’s idea of perfection, forming well-spaced, strong branches that are easy to prune. A dependable annual producer of good crops.
