Wolf River is one of the largest apples in our orchard, and probably one of the largest grown. Its flesh is rather coarse, preventing it from being a worthy dessert apple. It has been used primarily as a baking apple. It starts as a greenish-yellow colour becoming brick red as it matures. The tree can take up to 5 or 6 years before beginning to produce apples. Scab resistant and possibly cedar apple rust resistant.
