Hydrangea anomala petiolaris
Native to Asia, where it grows as a forest species. Prefers a rich moist soil. Prefers a pH of 6-7. Produces shelves of white flowers that persist all summer with even spent blooms decorating the vine into fall and winter. After planting the vine it will take a couple of years to get going, but then will become very vigorous. Although a good soil is essential, fertilizing will not speed this process. Have patience. It will be worth the wait. Can be used on walls or tree trunks, as its aerial roots will attach themselves to the smallest indentations. One of the few climbing vines that will flower in full shade. Stunning plant.
